Also on the international stage, China has committed to greening its Belt and Road Initiative and made green finance a priority for the G20, both efforts that UN Environment is actively supporting. And then there was President Xi’s robust defence of the fight against climatechange in Davos. 

過去短短兩年間，中國(guó)展現(xiàn)了非凡的勇氣和定力，僅僅這些行動(dòng)本身就對(duì)全球環(huán)境治理起到巨大的推動(dòng)作用。

然而，中國(guó)針對(duì)國(guó)內(nèi)的環(huán)境形勢(shì)，做了更多。

All of this in only two years. Alone, these actions are an enormous help to the environmental movement.

But China has done even more domestically. 

中國(guó)很多城市都遭受著空氣污染。惡劣的空氣嚴(yán)重威脅公眾健康，并造成數(shù)萬(wàn)億美元的經(jīng)濟(jì)損失。中國(guó)為解決這一問題做出了巨大努力，包括在可再生能源領(lǐng)域新增3600億美元（約合2.5萬(wàn)億元人民幣）投資；終止了新增燃煤電廠的規(guī)劃；以及建立環(huán)境污染企業(yè)“黑名單”，對(duì)違法企業(yè)進(jìn)行定位。在省、市、縣等各個(gè)層面，中國(guó)的違法排污企業(yè)將受到嚴(yán)厲懲罰。環(huán)境法庭加強(qiáng)審理環(huán)境案件，為健康的環(huán)境提供了法律保障。

Many of China’s cities suffer debilitating airpollution. Bad air causes massive health problems and trillions of dollars to be lost from the economy. Massive efforts have begun to address this, including investing over $360 billion in renewable energy. Plans for new coal plants have been scrapped. And blacklists of polluters are being drawn up, to target those who would break the law. And those who do break the law will receive heavy penalties for pollution - at provincial, municipal and county levels.Environmental courts have been hearing more cases, and providing the legal means to ensure a healthy environment. 

中國(guó)推崇剛?cè)嵯酀?jì)的“胡蘿卜加大棒”策略，在揮舞“大棒”的同時(shí)，也不忘必要的激勵(lì)機(jī)制。中國(guó)正在全國(guó)推廣廢棄物循環(huán)利用與電動(dòng)汽車項(xiàng)目。在北京與上海，針對(duì)電子廢棄物與電池的循環(huán)利用體系正在鋪開。在深圳，政府部門積極推動(dòng)電動(dòng)出租車換代，希望借此讓市民呼吸更清新的空氣。

In a carrot and stick approach, you must not forget the carrot. So China has been promoting recycling and electric vehicle programs across the country. In Beijing and Shanghai, recycling systems are rolling out that will target e-waste and batteries. In Shenzhen, authorities   have been aggressively promoting a switch to electric taxis that will allow residents to breathe easier. 

人民群眾的福祉被中國(guó)政府放在最優(yōu)先的位置，與此同時(shí)，中國(guó)還成為了野生動(dòng)植物保護(hù)的先鋒。作為長(zhǎng)期以來非法象牙制品的目的地，中國(guó)宣布將在今年年底前禁止一切象牙交易。國(guó)航宣布終止對(duì)鯊魚魚翅的運(yùn)輸，期待有更多同行參與其中。與此同時(shí)，中國(guó)還積極開展公益行動(dòng)：北京首都國(guó)際機(jī)場(chǎng)與環(huán)境署共同主辦了“為生命吶喊”圖片展，環(huán)境署全球親善大使李冰冰召集諸多公眾人物一起鼓與呼，貢獻(xiàn)自己的力量。像首都機(jī)場(chǎng)這樣的中國(guó)私營(yíng)部門愿意投入價(jià)值數(shù)百萬(wàn)美元的展位與電子屏幕資源進(jìn)行瀕危物種的宣傳，這一舉動(dòng)也印證了中國(guó)在環(huán)保態(tài)度上的巨大轉(zhuǎn)變。

While the well-being of people has been a toppriority, China has also become a champion of wildlife. Long a destination forillicit ivory, China announced that the ivory trade will be banned by the end of this year. Air China has announced a ban on transporting shark fins, a move we hope to see other carriers follow. These efforts have been coupled with massive public awareness campaigns. Beijing International Airport generously partnered with UN Environment to host an exhibit of our Wild for Life campaign,featuring Goodwill Ambassador Li Bingbing. It’s a testament to the changing attitudes in China that the private sector would commit resources worth almost$12 million to protect some of the most vulnerable species on the planet.
